Minnesota Farmers Union (End Client)

The Challenge

Minnesota Farmers Union came to fjorge, needing a platform to pair farmers and wholesalers in an organized fashion. Their goal is to empower farmers by increasing their exposure to the wholesale market by connecting them to buyers. Additionally, they wanted restaurants to source more food locally.

Our team of developers at fjorge created minnesotafoodshed.org, a site using WordPress. Working through Discovery and Solutions Architecture, our team decided on using BuddyPress, a WP plugin that creates similar functionality to social media sites. Minnesota Foodshed’s platform lets Minnesota Farmers Union verify users, create profiles, search and filter through all user profiles, create posts, etc. Our UX/UI team created a seamless user experience, and our design team provided the site’s designs. Minnesotafoodshed.org will help Minnesota Farmers Union build resilience into local food markets, support the existing local wholesale food market, and grow it for local wholesale food production in MN.
